The AFMB crystallization facility (label IBiSA) is a non-profit technology platform, which provides infrastructure to enable growth of crystals, which are required to obtain atomic-level structures of biological macromolecules via X-ray diffraction techniques. The facility offers completely automated crystallization screening and optimization with nanoliter crystallization robots, an automated imaging system, help and guidance in manual crystal optimization and X-ray equipment for diffraction tests.
The crystallization experiments are set up in 96 well sitting drop plates via nano-dispensing robot (Mosquito, TTP Labtech). We also have a TECAN liquid handling robot, which permits highly creative experimental design, e.g. formulation of individually designed crystallization screens. The facility is equipped with an automated imaging system for protein crystallization (Rock Imager, Formulatrix).
