MALS

Multi-Angle static Light Scattering (MALS) measures molar mass directly, in solution. Combined with a fractionation technique like Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC), MALS determines absolute molar mass distributions independent of elution time and as the molecule exists in solution.

Applications:
Molar mass distributions of heterogeneous samples
Analysis of aggregation and oligomeric states
Stoichiometry of macromolecular complexes
Characterisation of conjugated macromolecules (glycoproteins, PEGylated proteins, membrane proteins solubilized in detergent micelles)

Device:
HPLC Ultimate 3000 (Thermo Scientific) / DAWN 8 angles light-scattering detector coupled to an Optilab differential refractometer
(Wyatt Technology)
