ELECTRON MICROSCOPY

The EM platform provides three types of services

• Quality control (negative staining)

1. verify the homogeneity of a sample (aggregated or not).
2. determine the degree of oligomerization of a protein.
3. allow image analysis and 3D reconstruction of protein complexes (collaboration).

• Cryo-electron microscopy

The cryo-electron microscopes, and the associated instruments, are available under conditions.

• Cellular electron microscopy

Different techniques are available in the platform to allow the observation of biological samples

1. Fixation

• Chemical fixation
• Fixation by high-pressure freezing

2. Inclusion

• Classical embedding (EPON, LR White)
• Cryo-substitution and embedding

3. Sectioning

• Classical sectioning
• Cryo-sectioning (Tokuyasu)

4. Labeling and Staining

• Post-staining
• Immunolabeling (manual or automated)

5. Observation

• Trasmission Electron Microscopy

The platform also provides access to equipments under certain conditions
Scientific collaborations, that require specific developments, are possible .
