FRISBI
A high throughput membrane protein crystallization platform is being established at the IBS. It will comprise robotic systems with advanced imaging capabilities for in meso-crystallization of membrane proteins. The platform will include a UV microscope for testing crystallization probes, and will enable high-throughput crystallization with the capacity to store samples at different temperatures. The platform will facilitate the use of very small (about 10 nl) probes for crystallization and will be equipped with efficient systems for membrane protein crystallization.
This platform should considerably enhance the rate of success in crystallizing membrane proteins, and in particular human proteins which are often available in relatively small amounts.
